Opening times
1 June to 13 July 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 6pm
14 July to 31 August 9am - 1pm and 2pm - 6pm
1st to 30th September 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 6pm
1 October to 31 May 10am- 1pm and 2pm - 5pm
Please note: last admission to the monument is one hour before closing time.
Closed on1 January,1 May,1 and 11 November and 25 December.

The ticket gives you access to the entire monument.
It also gives you access to guided tours of the monument (booking required).

- From Nîmes: A 9, exit no. 23, N 100 towards Villeneuve-Lez-Avignon.
- From Aix-en-Provence: A 7, exit no. 23, exit no. 24, N 7 towards Avignon, then towards Villeneuve-Lez-Avignon.
By train
Avignon station.
Services and conditions of visit
- Proper attire (no shirtlessness, no bare feet and no swimming costumes)
- Dogs on leads allowed
- Photo tripods and drones prohibited
- In the event of thunderstorms, rain or strong winds, or extreme heat, the outdoor areas (chemin de ronde terraces, chapel access) may be closed.
- Uneven ground
- Numerous steps: 200
- The fort has no lockers, so backpacks and suitcases are not permitted inside the monument.
- Knives and aerosols are prohibited.
- In very hot weather, please bring a bottle of water (a water point is available at the start of the tour) and a hat.
- Bring good shoes.
- An introductory room with a video and signs in French is available at the start of the tour.
- Smoking is prohibited throughout the site, both inside and outside the monument. Pursuant to decree no. 2025-582 of 27 June 2025 on smoke-free areas, collective outdoor areas where children and teenagers may be present or exposed, in particular public parks and gardens, become smoke-free areas.
